John Piper - The Mountains of Wales

During the Second World War and the following years the artist John Piper visited Wales many times in order to depict the mountains. The dramatic landscape attracted him, like other artists throughout the ages, but he was also keenly interested in the geology of the area. All of these powerful images convey Piper's deep relationship with the mountains of Wales.
