History of Pentan Shop
Established Pentan Shop by three partners in 1972. We are celebrating 50 millennials here in 2022.
Pentan Store now has two shops, one based at Carmarthen Market and the new store opening on Cowell Street in Llanelli town center
Family Business
We are a family run business founded over forty years ago, and sell all kinds of Welsh and Welsh goods including books, CDs, all kinds of gifts, clothes, and local crafts.
Everything here has a unique connection to Wales; be it language, literature, culture, the arts, or specialized crafts. We look forward to seeing you in the shop!
Our nod
As a Welsh company that sells everything related to Wales, we feel strongly in our duty to support the language and culture of our homeland. Most of our products come from local craftsmen and businesses - and also throughout Wales.
Events
As a local Welsh language shop in the area, we hold a variety of events to promote Welsh literature and music - either by inviting the author - or artists to the shop - to sign copies of her work, or by holding an evening where the author launches new book - and then listen to live music by newly released artist CD. This is also an opportunity for the audience to ask the author questions about the book's material and get to know the author. Please contact us if you wish to arrange such an evening
We work with local schools, supplying primary and secondary schools in our county and further afield - with educational resources and books for pupils, and are delighted to have a stand at its Summer and Christmas fairs when the opportunity arises
The Atom
We have close links with the County's educational institutions and mentrau iaith, and the Yr Atom center in Carmarthen does a lot of special work promoting the Welsh language, and gives us the opportunity to work with them when holding various events.
We are also delighted when language learners attend the shop, not only to buy a book - but also to practice speaking and conversing in Welsh with shop staff
The Shingle
S4C West Wales' new site. A special center that also holds events throughout the year to promote the language and culture of Wales and provides an opportunity for diverse talents to showcase their abilities to the Welsh media

Canolfan Peniarth
We work closely with Canolfan Peniarth. One of the leading publishers of Welsh language and bilingual education books and resources in Wales. Mererid Hopwood and Tudur Dylan Jones brought in a children's store to launch the New Learning series in the market.
